Transit
T1 Transit
We specialise in T1 transit, a customs procedure that allows the movement of non-union goods through multiple customs territories without paying duties or taxes until they reach their destination. This efficient process saves you time and money while ensuring compliance with customs regulations. Non-Union goods are made outside the EU and Northern Ireland, which includes Great Britain! A prime example of this is when UK goods are shipped through Dover to Calais and then onto another country within the EU. The T1 allows you to move freely through France and import the goods in Germany, Spain, or Italy, for example.
T2 Transit
T2 Transits are for Union-goods that are in free circulation within the EU. Your goods will be Union goods if they are made in the EU from EU materials or made in the EU from materials outside the EU but you’ve paid EU duties on them. An example of when a T2 would be needed is if you are sending goods from Spain to Republic of Ireland via the United Kingdom.
Simplified Customs Clearances from Authorised Locations
Save time and effort by taking advantage of the simplified customs clearance process from authorised locations, meaning Transit forms can be activated straight from your premises. You can take advantage of this if you are one of the following: Warehouse, Temporary Storage Facility, or Designated Export Place (DEP). Set-up is usually 7 working days. This would be ideal for high-volume shipments.
Transit Activation
All T1 / T2 Transit forms must be activated by UKBF, and there are various ways this can be done:
- If travelling through Dover / Folkestone (Eurotunnel), they can be activated at Sevington Inland Border Facility. This facility is set up outside of the Dover / Folkestone area to ease traffic and simplify the process. Attending an Inland Border Facility
- If travelling through any other port of the UK, they can either be activated at the local port customs office or through the shipping line you are booked with, usually via email.
