IPAFFS

When importing goods into the UK that fall under one of the following categories, a notification must be sent to UK authorities via IPAFFS – the Import of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System:

  • Live animals
  • Germinal products
  • Animal by-products (ABP)
  • High-risk food and feed not of animal origin (HRFNAO)
  • Products of animal origin (POAO)
  • Composite food products
  • Medium and high-risk plants and plant products

As an Import Agent, we can manage IPAFFS notifications on your behalf.

Plants and Plant Products

For us to create IPAFFS notifications for plants and plant products, you will need to set up a profile in IPAFFS using your government gateway account and authorise GBCC as a Trade Partner. We are more than happy to assist you with this process.

Accompanying Documents

Depending on the goods’ origin, we may require any of the following documents, which are produced in the country of export but a copy may be needed for UK authorities:

  • Health Certificates
  • Phytosanitary Certificates
  • Catch Certificates – for fish and fish products
  • Organic Certificates – for organic goods

EU Origin Goods

HMRC has categorized EU origin goods into three risk categories: low, medium, and high. This classification determines which accompanying documents are required. We can assist in establishing the risk category for your goods and advise on the necessary accompanying documentation for entry into the UK.
